The family of the late Noel Laurence McLaughlin who passed away on the 27th of May 2024, would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who sympathised with them on the loss of their beloved father, father-in-law, brother and grandfather. The gestures of kindness, sympathy and support will always remain dear to each of us as we go on our journey without dad by our sides.

Special thanks to Dad’s GP practice, district nurses who visited Dad at home, to the staff at the Sperrin Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital and his Haematology Consultant for their care and professionalism. To the staff at ward 31 who made dad as comfortable as possible during his illness and for their compassion and dedication. To Fr. McFaul for celebrating the Requiem Mass and for the wonderful eulogy that captured Dad’s delightful character. Special thanks to Fr. McFaul for visiting Dad over the years at home and whilst he was in hospital he thoroughly enjoyed your company over the years. To Michelle Conaghan for the beautiful singing and the accompanist for the lovely music. Special thanks to the students from St.Columb’s College year 13 Gaelic Team and year 13 year group for the guard of honour. Thanks to everyone for the beautiful cards, letters, flowers and the messages received from individuals from various stages of dad’s life.

Thank you to all of our friends, neighbours, colleagues and family who provided food and support during the wake and to all those who travelled from further afield to attend the wake and funeral. And to all the priests who visited the wake each evening for family prayers. Finally we would like to thank Kieran, from W.J. O’Brien and Son Funeral Directors for their professionalism and the dignified manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements.

Laurence (Noel’s) Months Mind mass will be celebrated on Monday the 1st of July at 7.30 pm in the Long Tower Church.
