EASTWOOD, John, Died 31st October 2024, Belfast
The wife and family of the late John Eastwood RIP wish to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love and support shown to us in our recent bereavement. Our heartfelt thanks to our extended family, friends and colleagues for their kindness and for all those from near and far who called at our home and attended the funeral, also to the many who joined us online via our parish webcam.
We are very grateful to those who sent and continue to send Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters of condolences, messages and flowers, all of which are a great source of comfort. We are especially grateful to Brendan Bowman for the amazing catering for our home and all our friends and family who brought food and gave so generously of their time helping with refreshments. We are so appreciative for the generous donations to The Welcome Organisation in John’s memory and for the help it will provide to the homeless.
Our sincere gratitude to Fr Adrian Egan and Fr Michael Sheehan for their spiritual guidance and the most beautifully celebrated requiem Mass which captured the essence of John. Also special thanks to Dominique Mullin and her musicians for the most beautiful music and singing in the church and graveyard, Neil Shiels for his invaluable help and printing the mass booklet and anyone who contributed in any way to the memorable Mass and celebration of John’s life.
Special appreciation to James Mullan and Hugh Dougal of O’Kanes funeral directors and their team for their professionalism and dignified support, the grave diggers for their respect, Gerry for looking after us in the church and all those at the La Mon hotel who provided the splendid lunch and the many musicians for the entertainment afterwards.
Grateful thanks to Sean along with Carryduff GAA members for stewarding the car parking and the dignified guard of honour alongside our Eastwood Group colleagues and Ulster Karting Club members.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr Colum Owens and all the staff in Coronary Care Unit RVH and Dr Michael Quinn and all his team at the Haematology Dept BCH for their loving devotion and care of John during his illness. We are especially indebted to Patrica Walsh and her community nursing team for their support and attentive care for John in his short final days at home, along with Dr Magee and pharmacists Lizzy and Austins.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deep gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all. A mass will be offered for everyone’s intentions.
John’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday 7th December 2024 at 6pm in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Knockbracken drive, Carryduff, BT8 8EX
Padre Pio and St Francis pray for him, may his gentle soul rest in heavenly peace.
