We, the family of the late Hugh McLaughlin, 15 Osprey Drive, would like to express our wholehearted gratitude for the unwavering support and kindness we received during Hugh's illness and following his passing on 11 December 2024.

Sincere thanks for the continued presence and generosity from family, friends, neighbours and all of those who travelled far and near to attend Hugh's wake and funeral; who brought and served food and refreshments during the wake; offered condolences; made donations in lieu of flowers; sent Mass cards, and prayed with us. A heartfelt thank you to those of you who shared your stories and memories, your tears, laughter and your endless, kind words about Hugh, all of which provided and continues to provide, a profound source of comfort.

Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude, appreciation, and respect for the dedicated staff at Altnagelvin, particularly, Dr Elder, the entire hematology team, the staff in Ward 50 and all from the Foyle Hospice who cared for Hugh with the utmost tenderness, compassion and dignity and for their empathy and unwavering support throughout Hugh's illness and particularly during his final days first at Altnagelvin Hospital and then at home.

Our wholehearted thanks and admiration to all the carers for always looking after him with the best of craic, compassion and dignity.

Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Courtney , Dr Canavan and the other doctors and colleagues at Cityview Medical , District Nurses and Marie Curie nurses for their attentiveness and dedication caring for our father.

Sincere thanks to Fr Canny for his spiritual work at the wake, the Requiem Mass and at Hugh’s burial.

Thank you to those who provided the flower arrangements, Sean and Michelle for the music and singing at the service, the caterers at Ardmore Church Hall and the gravediggers for preparing Hugh's final resting place.

Finally, a very special thank you to all at WJ O'Brien & Son Funeral Directors, Eglinton, particularly Kieran and Noeleen, for their guidance and the caring, attentive and dignified manner in which they dealt with the funeral arrangements .

Although it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our deep appreciation.

Hugh's Month's Mind Mass will be celebrated in Columb's Church, Chapel Road, Waterside, on Monday 13th January 2025 at 7.30 pm. Everyone welcome.
