The death has occurred of:
Hugh Cahill
We, the family of the late Hugh Cahill (Cranfield), wish to extend our sincerest thanks to all those who sympathised with us on the recent loss of our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and uncle. Your kind messages, words, prayers and heartfelt condolences have provided much strength and comfort over the past number of weeks.
Thank you to the countless people who attended the wake and funeral, from near and far, to pay their respects to Hugh and who shared their memories of Hugh's long life with us. To our extended network of family, friends, neighbours and the gaels of Down we are eternally gratefully for the support in welcoming visitors to the wake. We could not have done it without your assistance.
Special thanks to Fr Nicky Hennity for conducting a very special and personal requiem Mass for Hugh. Thanks also to the priests of the parish, Fr Sean Dillon and Fr Sean Cahill, as well as Monsignor Paddy Delargy, Fr Michael Murray and Fr Kevin McHugh for concelebrating. A true testament to the strong faith Hugh had throughout his life. Thank you also to John Devaney for the touching funeral mass reflection, Linda Gawley, who provided the beautiful music for the mass and Kelly McCabe for the flower arrangements.
To An Ríocht CLG, we extend our sincere gratitude. From providing equipment and chairs for the wake, to organising an exceptional Guard of Honour and preparing the hall for food after the funeral, we could not have organised the wake and funeral without your unwavering support.
Thank you to Tom McAvoy and the staff of the Milestone, Rathfriland for the excellent food and service they provided after the funeral.
We also wish to express our thanks to the staff of Kilkeel Medical Practice, especially Mary Allen and Cathy McDowell, who took great care of Hugh in recent years and to Daisy Hill staff on Level 5 and in the High Dependency Unit for their care and attention to Hugh during his short time in hospital.
Many thanks to Nick and Paul of Nicholas Doran Funeral Directors for the dignified and professional way in which the arrangements were carried out. We are very grateful.
Hugh's Month Mind Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am on Sunday 10th November in Massforth Church, Kilkeel.
Hugh is much missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Caitlin; sons Ciarán and Diarmuid; daughters-in-law Melissa and Elaine; grandchildren Óran, Dáire, Mel, Siofra and Fionn; brother Owen; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephew, extended family and wide circle of friends.
Mil na mairbh marbh ach beo i gcroi na n-éan duine. May Hugh's gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
