To Andy's family,
I just wanted to express my sadness to you all when learning of Andy's passing last week.
I was a vision mixer at UTV (1980 - 1993) and worked with Andy on a wide variety of programmes including church services, Irish music, the evening news broadcasts and many others including a documentary on Irish railways which I know he loved. He was always great fun to work with. His laid back approach to directing showed no sign of self importance and his unique use of swear words never insulted but often brought comical relief when things weren't going to plan.
I have no doubt his passing will leave a large void in your lives and in the lives of all his retired colleagues from Havelock House.
Andy kindly agreed to be interviewed for UTV memories, a series of interviews from employees in the early years of UTV, around 2 years ago. I would be delighted to share those with you.
Unfortunately I can't be at Andy's funeral today as I am on holiday in America but you are all in my thoughts this day.
Keep strong and good bless.
