You stood Shoulder to Shoulder with the people of the Greater Shankill when terrorists brought death, heartache, and destruction to our people. October 23rd, 1993 is seared on the collective heart of the Shankill. Fondly remembered, in gratitude from all your friends on the Shankill. Tuesday 16 July 2024 John MacVicar, Greater Shankill Community Council

Dear Janice and Lorraine and families, I have many fond memories of your parents. When I was a community worker on the Shankill, your father had me as his mate tiling church kitchens. He gave me the keys of his Ford Mondeo one day, to drive to Castlecaulfield to pick up some carpets from Wilsons. On another day he sent me to Maghaberry to pick up a horse for the BB that he had restarted (a vaulting horse!) He got me through the Local Preacher's Course, and candidating for the Methodist Ministry (I'm not sure how). He was a man who did much good and was a major influence on my life. I will always be grateful. Unfortunately I have a lunchtime meeting here in Dublin on Wednesday. Otherwise I would be with you in person. Monday 15 July 2024 Rev Andrew Kingston, Dublin
