Cissie Meegan late of Garvaghey and more recently of St. Julian’s House, Omagh died on 8th September 2024 (her 96th birthday).
The family of the late Cissie Meegan wish to extend our deep gratitude and warmest thanks and sincere appreciation to everyone who offered their condolences, prayers and support during our recent sad bereavement. Cissie was a much loved and widely respected lady, widow of the late John who predeceased her in 2006, much loved mother of Seán, mother-in-law of Mary and very much-loved grandmother of Kate, Jack and Dan and great grandmother of Lorcán; she was a very dear sister, sisterin-law, aunt and friend to many. We would like to thank everyone who called at the wake, helped and brought food, all so much appreciated. We are particularly indebted to cousins, friends and the Kelly family, Garvaghey. Our thanks also to those who sent Mass and Sympathy Cards, messages, and to those who joined us at the Requiem Mass. We would like also to extend sincere thanks to those who gave donations to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in memory of Cissie.
A special word of thanks to Fr. O’Dwyer for his spiritual support to us in this sad time, and for his officiation of an uplifting and comforting Requiem Mass. We convey also our appreciation to everyone who took part in the liturgy especially the readers and Pascal McAnenly who contributed such beautiful music to raising the celebration of Cissie’s life to another dimension.
Our very sincere thanks are extended to Leo Donaghy, Donaghy & Montague, Funeral Directors supported by his wife Agnes, for the calm, professional and dignified manner in which Leo conducted the funeral arrangements throughout Cissie’s wake and to her burial. We were greatly comforted by his quiet support and direction. Thank you to Canavans of Garvaghey for providing refreshments after Cissie’s interment. And finally, but by no means least, we extend our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to the staff and residents of St. Julian’s House where Cissie spent many good years, comfortably and happily, the Palliative Care Ward in Omagh Hospital, and Springlawn PNH where she spent the last few weeks of her life, ill health having taken its toll. Words are inadequate to reflect our deep appreciation and sincere thanks to Cissie’s nieces and nephews, her friends and the Kelly family for the great support given to us throughout Cissie’s last days, and the celebration of her life which ended peacefully on her 96th birthday. You truly held us in the palm of your hands. If we have overlooked anyone, please forgive us, and know that this acknowledgment is a true and sincere statement of our deep gratitude for the support we received from every single one of you.
Cissie will be forever loved and much missed and we know that she is now happily reunited with her beloved John. Her memorial Mass will be celebrated in St Matthew’s Church Garvaghey on Sunday 15th December at 11 am. May she rest in peace.
