Acknowledgement for BRIAN FORESTER
18 Melmount Park, Strabane and formerly of Park, Co Derry Died 8 June 2024

Brian’s wife Mary, his beloved sons Barry, Gavin, Mark and Lee, his stepson Mark Maguire, as well as his wider family circle wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us in our recent sad bereavement. We wish to thank everyone who called to the house, attended the funeral, sent messages, Mass cards, sympathy cards, brought food, or made donations in lieu of flowers to Foyle Hospice. We particularly want to thank three local businesses Subway, McBrearty’s Mace and John Hannigan’s XL Stop & Shop who all kindly provided provisions for the wake.
We offer our heartfelt thanks to Fr Michael Doherty for the pastoral care provided to Brian during his illness. Thank you also to Fr Malachy Gallagher for the comforting and quite beautiful Requiem Mass. A special word of thanks to the musicians and singers Brian Lindsay and Blondie Gillespie whose contribution added so much to the solemnity of the occasion.
We offer our sincere gratitude to Dr McCaffrey, Dr Jo Finnerty and the North West Cancer Centre as well as to GP’s and District Nurses at Riverside Practice. It would be remiss not to mention the call handlers at Riverside Practice who were unfailing in their support often organising prescriptions for us at very short notice. We also want to thank Foyle Hospice Community Specialist Palliative Care nurses Mairéad and Caroline as well as the Marie Curie Rapid Response Team particularly Tanya who was with us on the final two nights. The support of all these professionals meant that Brian’s wish to remain at home was fulfilled.
We were deeply moved by the Guard of Honour provided by Brian’s friends and former colleagues at O’Neill’s International Sportswear as the funeral cortege left Melmount Park.
Thanks to Jude and the staff at Quigley’s Funeral Directors for the professional and dignified manner in which they carried out the funeral arrangements. A final word of thanks to Strabane Golf Club, Parkland33 and Café Milano who provided refreshments following the funeral. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our thanks and appreciation.
